RE: [MittleiderMethodGardening] What is Seed Inoculant

Dear Jim, Is that what he was writing about? I thought maybe it was a seed
innoculant for nitrogen fixing bacteria that have a commensal relationship with the bean plants. They colonize the roots of the beans and fix nitrogen, causing the beans to grow better and leaving the soil with more nitrogen than before they grew. (yep - you're probably right - JK) Bernie

Subject: [MittleiderMethodGardening] What is Seed Inoculant

We live in the Branson Missouri area, Our local garden supply company sales
person said we should use this to plant our beans. He planted 2 rows one
treated with this stuff and one without. The treated row did much better.
This product is manufactured by INTX microbials LLC.

Tell me what you can about this.

Thanks Dave

Dave & Group:

If you make a paste of a good fungicide and roll your seeds in it, then let
them dry and plant them you can often kill any fungus that is either IN the
seed at the time of planting, or NEAR the seed at that time.

Many seed stores sell seed that has had this done. I'm not sure this is what
your store is recommending. Ask if it's a fungicide and let us know, will
you?
