[MittleiderMethodGardening] Real Helps for your Gardening - Free
Group:
James Gledhill, with a little of my help, has given us several tools to make our gardening efforts MUCH more productive, while removing a lot of guesswork.
in the Files section of the Gardening Group site there is a folder called Gledhill Tools & Docs - http://groups.
The Planting Helper Calendar will show you when to plant, based on the Average Date of Last Frost(ADLF) for your own area, and give you the times you can expect to harvest for all the major vegetable varieties. Just learn your own ADLF by calling your own County Extension Agent, or by buying the Garden Wizard (http://foodforevery
The Planting Helper Data schedule list pretty much every vegetable you might consider growing, and then for all of them it gives you the following:
1. Whether to plant seeds or seedlings
2. The plant's hardiness
3. When to plant as compared to the ADLF
4. Plant spacing in the row
5. Rows per 18"-wide planting bed
6. Planting depth
7. Expected yield per 30' row
8. Number of plants in a 30' row
9. Number of fertilizer applications
10.Plant height at maturity
11.When to start seeds for seedlings
12.When to plant in the garden
This is all vital information to know, if you expect to have the best garden possible.
I recommend everyone download and print these files (replace the sample ADLF with your own in the Calendar first), and use them, along with the 4 page How to Build and Use T-Frames.
Good Growing! Isn't it great that we can get started in the garden again? I have a few thousand seeds planted - in the greenhouse - myself here in Alabama.
Anyone care to see my small (8.5' X 14') greenhouse? Someone needs to help us learn how to download and edit our video!
