Re: [Organic_Gardening] Winter Gardening

Yes they are called Cold Frames. They are a wooden box with a clear plastic top.
In them you can grow green type crops like lettuce and spinach and if they are
deep enough some root crops. But unlike a green house they are small and if you
make them on a wagon or cart you can move them around the yard to help get them
out of the way if you need to. You can use other things beside wood you can use
Bales of hay. Or you can designate a part of your house or apartment and do
containers in the house with grow lights and then you can grow pretty much what
you want. just remember if pollination is needed you become the Bee. To become a
Bee you need a fluffy small to medium size watercolor brush. Dip the brush into
a vegetable oil or olive oil and then using a paper towel wipe off the excess.
You just want the brush to have a film of oil on them then ever so gently insert
the brush into the blossom and lightly twist the brush. Take a string and lay it
next to the blossom you started with so that when you have finished with all the
other blossom you can come back and pollinate that one also.
The Key to winter gardening is Imagination think out side the box and try it.

Does anyone know how to grow vegetables in the winter without a greenhouse?
