Yup that will do the job and yes a tarp is advised. When it rains or snows it
could shut down the pile's ability to cook. But when you cover it with the tarp
put a brick or rock in the center and poke a small hole to one side of the dent.
this will allow some moisture in to the pile so it won't dry out.

Thanks for this~It helped me! I have a question: So can I make a compost bin out
of chicken wire? So let's say that i take 4 posts, and stick them in 4 corners,
then i wrap the chicken wire around it. Does it need to be covered with a tarp
on top of it, and the sides? Thanks
