RE: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Coloidal Silver - in the garden and home
I read a lot of science and medicine.
One of the recent articles I read that I thought was so interesting was
about a new dressing that has been developed for after surgery healing which
contains a very small percentage of colloidal silver.
The researched that developed it monitored the fibroblasts (cells that
create healing) as well as the bacteria. By carefully changing the
percentage, and testing he found that at above 3% the fibroblasts were
damaged, but that below that percent they were not.
The bacteria, luckily, were inhibited by a much smaller percent. I think
(but can't remember exactly) that he settled on 1/10th of 1 percent. So the
deal is that a little helps a lot. But too much of any good thing is a bad
thing ! Do not exceed the suggested dosage.
Perhaps this article may shed light on why the bacteria is affected by
silver - by creating an environment where the bacteria cannot dump their
extra electrons!

I use colloidal silver when I'm feeling like a cold is coming on, and most
of the time it works pretty good. Also I combine it with about 70% water
and lightly spray the inside of my shoes to inhibit bacterial smell ! My
shoes last longer and never get musty...
However it had *no effect at all* against the superbug MRSA when both my
wife and I got that after visiting a relative in the hospital and we had to
take some seriously powerful sulpha based drugs for 14 days. So also don't
try to use this as a panacea. If something continues to get bad take
yourself to the emergency room asap!
On a semi related subject, I've found that if you put a bunch of extra
pennies and some zinc covered plumber's tape into the water of an
evaporative cooler that it creates a bi-metal reaction releasing zinc and
copper into the water. This completely eliminates any bacterial action in
the water. I've had the same pads in my cooler for 3 years now and there is
no smell, and no degradation of the pads! Since the metal never evaporates
this protection is safe and lasts until the water is drained completely
before replacing. However, if you get the water on your skin you'll want to
wash immediately.

home
Group:
Is anyone using or familiar with colloidal silver, either in the garden to
stop diseases, or in the home to heal or prevent disease?
I've been reading a lot about it this past few days and it sounds very
interesting!
