[MittleiderMethodGardening] Re: Eating Vegetables is Most Healthy - but not to extreme!
Hi Everyone!
I agree that everyone's body and it's needs are a little different. We
need to be in tune with what works for our body's physiology. What
works for some, might not for others.
And I am sure we all realize this, but if a person chooses to be a
vegetarian or vegan, you can get all the protein most bodies need, by
including legumes (beans), grains, & nuts, which is considered part of
that diet. I wonder if those who have suffered from a vegetarian diet,
might be focusing on a very narrow supply of veges, or fruits, over a
long period of time, instead of enjoying the wide range of legumes,
grains, nuts, fruits, & vegetables... Even many veges contain at least
some protein... but need to be supplemented with legumes, grains, &
nuts, through out each week, to create a "complete" protein.
Also, the Standard American Diet (SAD ;), I have heard, tends to contain
way too much protein, which can leach calcium from our bones, among
other things....
(Thanks Carmen! Jacob Mittleider was a strict vegetarian and lived to 87. And the thing that killed him had nothing to do with nutrition, so far as I know - JK)
Something to think about.... :D
Happy Gardening!
