Re: [Organic_Gardening] Seed starting mixture

Yara, Dr. Earth is good stuff. But if money is a concern, here is how you make
your own.

Equipment needed: A Food Processor. Go to the thrift store and buy a food
processor. Spend as little as you can. Next Buy a bag of compost and a bag of
composted chicken or cow and a small bag of pearlite. Then spread some of the
compost on a baking sheet and some of the manure on a sheet and set them in the
oven which is set at 100 degrees and let them dry out. Then run it all through
the food processor and with will grind and blend it all together into a really
fine seed starting mix which can be stored in a plastic container with a lid. So
even with the cash out lay for the blender and the ingredients you will produce
enough starting mix to equate about 20 boxes of Dr.Earth. @$5 + per box thats
about a $100.

Subject: [Organic_Gardening] Seed starting mixture

"Have been having a hard time finding some reasonably priced organic seed
starting soil though. Anyone ever use Dr. Earth?"

Hi, I am not familiar with Dr. Earth. I have used the starting mix from gardens
alive for a couple of years and I love it. Search the net for their latest
coupon, buy at least $40 and get $20 coupon off. I always buy with their 50%
coupon like that, so it is more reasonable.
