[MittleiderMethodGardening] Off Topic: Celiac Disease aka Gluten Intolerance

Fellow list members,

Seems there may be a small bit of confusion regarding celiac disease or gluten intolerance.

Celia disease (CD) is a genetic digestive disorder that affects 1 in 133 people. Those with celiac disease are unable to digest gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, barley and derivatives of those grains. Celiac disease is also know as "celiac sprue", "sprue", and "gluten intolerance".

The way in which food products containing wheat, rye, barley, or derivatives of those grains are prepared will not change the fact those foods contain the gluten protein that cannot be digested.

For more information regarding CD visit the Celiac Sprue Association at http://www.csaceliacs.org/ or the Celiac Disease Foundation at http://www.celiac.org/.

If there are additional questions about CD, please contact me off-list.
