You get 0.433* psi for each foot of "head" in the water column. Thus, if you need 30 psi at the faucet, then a "head" of 69.28 feet would be required. (30 psi divided by 0.433 = 69.28 feet) For 40 psi at the faucet, a head of 92.38 feet would be required.
* Precisely accurate only at a water temperature of 62° F; however, 0.433 will be close enough for practical purposes at any water temperature likely to be encountered in gardening.
