Re: [Organic_Gardening] Underground grass

Yes, you must remove all the plants that are in the bed that you want to save
and the till the bed and sift out the root system. Then when you have all that
done you need to heat the top 4 to 8 inches of soil to kill off what you missed.
This can be done by digging a trench the length of the bed about 8 inches deep
and filling the trench half full with charcoal and then light the charcoal. once
the coals are all burning then lightly cover the coals with the excavated soil.
Do not tamp down. It can take up to 36 hours for the coals to completely burn
away and when that is done then just back fill with any soil left over.

Subject: [Organic_Gardening] Underground grass

I have a flower garden that I weed extensively several times/year. Biggest
issue is the underground grass. Is there anyway to get rid of this grass short
of the several times a year pulling?

Thanks!
