RE: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Dehydrating Foods
Bryan,
I have the 9 tray model. I bought it after my American Harvest (I think) one burnt my tomato slices. I may have had the heat at 135 but no higher. I have learned much since then from Tammy's website. All my fruit and veges are dried at 125 degrees now. Mine was refurbished listed as a 3900, 9 tray. I didn't need the timer myself so didn't get that. They were running a special and I got the 10 year warranty. I think I paid $160.00 I personally am glad that I didn't get the smaller one because sometimes I dry using every other slot because of food size. so you would only be using 4 or 5 trays. I guess it all depends on how much food you harvest or buy. I didn't buy the sheets for fruit roll ups ect because Tammy shows us how to use gallon size bags and duct tape. It works great. After I fill up my canning jars I put any leftover cooked tomatoes on them and dry.
I don't know how soon you want one. If your not in a hurry I would join their email list. They will email you their specials. Maybe do a google search for refurbished excalibur and see what if anything comes up.
I hope I have helped you out. Feel free to email me with any other questions you may have.
Eileen

l'm thinking of purchasing an Excalibur dehydrator...would appreciate your comments on which one is best for the purchasing price, some have longer warranties than others, and that bothers me, that they dont back all the same... l would appreciate your comments and which one you have.... good for bad... many thanks, Bryan
