Re: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Need ID on a plant
This looks like a poke salit plant to me. Some call them poke weeds. The only hesitancy I have about it, is that usually the stems/stalks are purple. Yours being green could be a result of growing inside. I have several in my yard right now. They were very prolific in our area this summer. They produce the berries at the end of the growing season.
We were told when we were growing up that these berries were poisonous. The leaves are edible in the spring although there are many warnings that they are poisonous also, unless you boil them 3 or 4 times, changing out the water each time. People here in the South love them and fix them with scrambled eggs. I have fixed them many times without the pre-requisite boiling. So that warning was probably an old wives tale.

Subject: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Need ID on a plant

Hi all,
I have a tub that I planted a mixed batch of lettuce and herbs earlier this year. As the outdoor garden came along I just ignored the tub. Now I have this giant plant in it and have no idea what it is. I was still going to just let it be as it seems happy and is something green in my living room, BUT, I noticed the dogs munching on it yesterday. I appreciate any feedback.
