Re: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Open suggestions on handling Herbs and spices and steaming vegs

Hi Bryan,
You can air dry all herbs by hanging them out on whatever hanger you have available - but another easy way is just to put them in a paper bag, keep it closed, and the herbs will dry. The paper bag soaks up the moisture. Transfer them to a plastic baggie with zip lock closing. You can crush them for use as needed.

Taking the leaves off the stem reduces the amount of time needed in the paper bag to dry. For small herbs such as oregano, thyme, leave them on the stem. For larger herbs such as basil, rosemary, take them off the main stem.

Subject: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Open suggestions on handling Herbs and spices and steaming vegs

l'm experimenting with growing herbs and some spices including garlic, basil, cilantro, coriander, parsley, chives, dill, oregano, etc. etc. etc... l would appreciate any suggestions or ideas on how to preserve em, or process for storage, also someone mentioned about a month ago, they microwaved ( steamed ) their vegetables.. l have not been able to master this, ( typical male, l guess ), either uncooked or way over-cooked, so l would like to hear from tnose that do and how they go about it....
l know this is a reach outside of this group, but l would really like being able to share ideas or things that others do, that might help others dealing with difficulties that they have... l hope this is acceptable with the group...
many thanks, happy gardening, Bryan
