[MittleiderMethodGardening] Dehydrating Foods
I think you will be very happy with the Exc. A couple years ago I was
given 40 lbs of bananas. I sliced & dried about half, and pureed the
rest into leather and dried in sheets. I rolled the sheets up,
vac-sealed, and am still using them in smoothies, banana bread, and
other recipes. The slices I use the same way, though they are good for
snacking as well.
I grow and dry herbs, which saves a LOT of money over buying dried herbs
in the grocery store. And it's wonderful having carrots and celery, both
sliced and diced, on hand. When I'm out of fresh, I just rehydrate some
for casseroles and soups. Leftover soup? Dehydrate it, vacseal, and have
a quick meal later.
