[MittleiderMethodGardening] Black Nightshade

Ok I know about this one. When my oldest boy was a little over two,
nearly three, I turned around in the garden and saw him come around the
corner of the barn. I had told him that those berries were poisonous,
that they were not good and he should not eat them. If something is
good to eat, we grazed it together, but not that, of course. Well, when
he came out and looked at me, and I looked at him,...I just knew without
a word said what he had done. I called poison control and they advised
epicac. He threw up 11 green berries. Poison control said that three
were enough to give an adult a bad belly ache, and 6-8 would make an
adult very ill, possibly kill them.

He managed to pull off some black ones one other time and swallow them
before I could stop him. That time he had nine. He learned that I was
serious about not eating them and I would 'know' when he had so he
stopped eating them after that. I always took them berry picking and
foraging around for things that were very good to eat as well as growing
good veggies in our garden but when I said no eating of something I
would not let it go by. He didn't like throwing up, lol.

He's my wonder boy. I call him that because it's a wonder he lived to
grow up. He was always getting into scrapes.
