[MittleiderMethodGardening] The Mittleider Gardening Program in the Russian Commonwealth Countries
Group:
Most of you probably don't know that The Mittleider Method of vegetable production is - so far as we can determine - the most popular and most productive method of growing in many regions of the Commonwealth countries.
And the reason for this is a GREAT work that Dr. Jacob R. Mittleider did in Russia, starting in 1989.
He established an agriculture program at a tiny, new Adventist Theological Seminary in the village of Zaoksky, not too far from Moscow. And he SO impressed the Communist agriculture people that they began learning from him - sent him students from their Ag colleges, and even gave him an honorary PhD from their most prestigious school.
He actually spent the growing seasons for 7 years creating the program and mentoring his student graduates as they matured into Ag teachers themselves. One of his students, Vladimir Tkachuk, from 1989 is now the President of the University.
The Zaoksky agriculture graduates have really put this little school on the map and given it great credibility throughout the country. almost 1,000 graduates from as far East as Vladivostok and as far North as Siberia have such respect that they are able to announce seminars and have 1,500 to 2,000 people in attendance.
I invite everyone to look at this link and read about Zaoksky. It is a WONDERFUL success story, and I believe that school played an important role in preparing the Russian people for the responsibility of freedom, as they learned to feed themselves without "big brother" providing their food.
