[MittleiderMethodGardening] Millleider fertilizers in self watering containers
I'm a big fan of self watering containers the first time I tried it I didn't worry bout the amounts just put a band cross the container like "Earth Box" recommends probably used 5 to 6 times the appropriate measured amounts; no problems with the fill tube and water reservoir in the bottom providing wick up action watering allows the plant(s) to take only what nutrients they need. If you were to continually flood irrigate from the top down you would risk over fertilizing. This year I have used much less & more measured amounts; one tomato plant I forgot in the beginning started yellowing where I quickly added 2 & 4 ounces per plant and they are all still growing strong.
On a side note a Google search for the 'home made' plans version of "Earth Box" works very well. I've found the round rope tubs fm "Home Depot" quite economical and so much easier to relocate I also like the ability to go a little taller for your water reservoir. "Dollar Tree" has some plastic poster board sheeting you can use for your false floor; I much prefer expired political signs if you can get some so gather all you can get after your local elections. (My costs of under $20. per ea are much easier to afford over the current $70. range for the commercial versions.
Hope this helps and bone ap'petite.
