[MittleiderMethodGardening] Zucchini and Crook Necks squishy
Help, my zuccini and crook neck were producing great and then yesterday, all the new growing summer squash are the size of my pinkey finger and soft and yellow and stopped growing. The blossom is still on the end of the squash. I have watered every day and fertilize with the micro nutrient mix once a week.
Any ideas??
Thanks
Laurel
Laurel: If the plants are healthy otherwise it most likely simply means that the blossoms did not get pollinated.
You can take care of this yourself if you will inspect them in the early morning, when both male and female flowers are fresh and open.
Pick a male flower; remove the petals; find a female flower (that's the one with the tiny fruit behind the blossom); you may need to remove a petal to have good access to the interior, which contains the pistil; touch the male stamen to the female pistil, and you have pollinated the blossom.
