Re: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Electric tiller/cultivator
You need the Mantis tiller, they have an electric one as well as 4 cycle and 2 cycle gas. I am a dealer for them and I swear by them. They till faster than the more powerful front tine tillers and most rear tine tiller not mounted to a tractor. :-)

at one
with a 9amp motor. Does that have the needed power?
9 x 120 = 1080 Watts
1080 / 750 ~ 1.44 HP
Now, most gas tiller sare 5 HP or better.
But the little Mantis is not.
Part of this is how FAST and DEEP you want to till!
(And how much area you have.)
A 6.5 HP like my Troy may have longer tines and be wider,
but basically has the same ability. You just have to make
5 passes instaed of 3-4. I may go to 8" and you to 4"...
For the relativey narrow beds of mittleider Methodology,
I see no huge issue.
Also gas-engine ratings seem to boast about engine power,
which never makes iot to the "wheels." A certain S-90 Honda
boasted 8HP but only 5 made it through the transmission and
chain & axle frictions. An electric has less of these, typically.
Curious, Brand, Cost, New or Used?
I used to rent one. The price was right, but it's inconvenient to
HAVE to plan it all so carefully, so you get done in 8 hours.
I had calishe & NO Drainage so one year went fown 3 feet,
6" at a time and shoveled the loose stuff away. & ReTilled 6".
Previosly, a post hole digger did this for me. MUCH easier if
drainage is the only issue. A 2-man 8" with a poke in Each Sq Ft
punches through 50% of the yard. No shoveling.
I got a Troy tiller a few yrs ago, half price. No gas cap or air filter
cover.
Someone lost theirs so a customer stole a replacement.
No store caps fit. The MFR sent them free, as a safety item.
Got a chipper & generator the same way.
Lesson? Buy Garden Tools in the Autumn ! ! ! ;>) Returns are
cheap & have been customer tested and store ReTested.
Front tine tillers are cheaper & get into corners. Rea tined
put engine wt into the mix much better and may have reverse.
They tend to have greater ability (HP & Depth,) as engine wt
is not a disadvantage with them, but an aid.
Biggest mistake with tillers is overuse. Like pancake batter,
Mix it - Don't beat it to death. Less is more . . .
Again:
Curious, Brand, Cost, New or Used?
