[MittleiderMethodGardening] Mittleider pvc watering system
Hi everyone,
I am in the process of making the pvc watering system. I saw the material I need and have them all, however now I'm stumped. I see the jig for marking the pvc pipe but I searched all over for how to make this jig so the holes will be lined up properly. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure what "jig" you're talking about Gary, because at least one of the earlier books shows pictures of a much more elaborate jig than the one in The Mittleider Gardening Course book. That one simply requires drawing marks on the END of your pipe at 12 o'clock and at 3 o'clock, then making a mark at 1:30.
You then use the simple jig - which is a 6"-long piece of 2 X 4 with a notch cut in it to accommodate the 3/4" pipe snugly, and a hole drilled down from the top to fit a pencil - as follows:
Place the sharpened pencil in the jig, and place the jig on the pipe with the pencil at one of your marks. Have someone hold the pipe from turning while you pull the jig the length of the pipe, making a straight line with the pencil.
Turn the pipe to the next mark and repeat the process - and do it again the third time.
Next, place a tape measure alongside the pipe and draw lines across the 3 lengthwise lines every 4".
With an electric drill, and using a #57 tiny wire-drill-bit, drill holes at all intersections of lines for the entire length of the pipe.
You will have 30 holes in 10' of pipe, that are 4" apart lengthwise and at 45 degrees around the circumference of the pipe.
Glue lengths of the pipe together - lining up the holes! - to get to the length you need for your soil-beds or Grow-Boxes. Then glue male threaded ends on both ends, putting a cap on one end and screwing the other end into a ball valve.
