[MittleiderMethodGardening] Mixing pre-plant, and fertilizer
Good morning,
My name is Gary and I am new to the group from Phoenix, Az. The main question I am stumped with is how do you mix together the pre-plant mix as well as the fertilizer mix? I want to insure that all the ingredients are mixed properly.
Thank you in advance for any and all information.

Gary & Group:
The fertilizer formulas are in all of the books (earlier books have slightly different formulas than later books, but all work well).
Since the Foundation has begun pre-mixing the Micro-nutrients most people simply purchase a package or two of the Micros from www.growfood.com and mix the Weekly Feed from the directions on the package, which is 10 oz MicroMix,4# Magnesium Sulfate, and 25# 16-16-16.
The PrePlant Mix consists of calcium (lime if annual rainfall is more than 20" and gypsum if less than 18"), magnesium sulfate, and borax in the ratio of 80-4-1.
Applying fertilizer to the soil BEFORE planting consists of 1 oz per ft of PP and 1/2 oz per ft of WF, mixed thoroughly with the soil.
After planting and before emergence NO fertilizer is applied to the soil.
After emergence 1/2 oz per ft WF is applied weekly until 3 weeks before maturity for single crop varieties, and until 8 weeks before frost for ever-bearing varieties.
