[MittleiderMethodGardening] Rain Gutter Gardens on Side of House

Bernard Bailey makes a very important point about the need for water in this type of garden. Here are his comments.

"The picture of the rain gutter garden interested me. My first thought was a memory of some long planter boxes that were about six inches deep and six inches high that I made a lot of years ago. I had them planted with strawberries. In our heat, I would soak them well before leaving for work, but they would be totally dried out and the plants wilted by the time I got home. However, that was before I discovered those black soaker hoses made from recycled tires. I think even in our heat, those rain gutter gardens could work if a soaker hose were allowed to seep slowly during the day, and having them on the side of the house should provide a lot of cooling". If any of you are thinking of trying this BE SURE that you have the watering regimen figured out before investing time and money in it.
