Re: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Greenhouse growing of greens
I've grown greens indoors, and didn't use special bulbs. I used two shoplight fixtures the length of my containers. Each two-bulb fixture had one cool light bulb and one warm light bulb. This works great for lettuce and radishes, I don't know whether these bulbs would work for things like tomatoes and peppers. I also used metal shelving, and hung the lights on chains from the shelf above, so I could adjust the lights as the plants grew. I kept the lights maybe three or four inches above the plants (I recommend the lights be 1" from the plants, and left on 16 hours per dasy - JK).

I had enough room for a pot of baby greens on the side of it in dirt and they grow wonderfully. It's too hot outside right now for lettuce but this works great! We had lettuce last December in our basement. We bought some metal shelves to put them on so you could really do this in any room.
