If it is indeed a black walnut, but careful to keep your horses away from it.  The wood is EXTREMELY toxic to horses - if they stand on black walnut shavings (as in a stall) they can easily suffer from chronic laminitis.  Not sure what might occur if they were to nibble on the twigs, but I'd hate to chance it.
