The eggs you are finding on the bottom side of the pumpkin leaves is most likely squash bug eggs. I remove the eggs using the sticky side of duct tape. The only way I was able to get rid of the squash bug infestation was = guinea hens. They also eat Japanese beetles and many other insects. The trick to keeping guineas in your area is to raise them from chicks. (tricky) I hardly ever see the squash bugs now. Liquid Seven dust, Neem oil, Horticulture oil , or Malathion kills the squash bugs and cabbage worms.
