[MittleiderMethodGardening] Ironite
Jim and group,
I found a product called Ironite that has almost all the minerals we need.
nitrogen 1%
potash 1%
calcium 12%
sulfur 10%
boron .2%
iron 4.5%
manganese 0.1%
molybdenum o.ooo5%
zinc 0.1%
My problem is that don't know the preferred amounts of the minerals as a percent of the total mix
For example, I know that I need 3 grams of sodium molybdate, but I don't know how much of that is molybdate.
If this info is already on the web site could you provide a link as I haven't been able to find it.
I found Ironite at the following:
Costco $16.49/50 lbs
Lowes $18.77/40 lbs
Home Depot $12.67/20lbs
Bryan & Group:
The fertilizer formula is on the website in the Learn section - in the Fertilizer chapter (Imagine!(-:) - so the amounts of all the micro-nutrients PLUS secondary and macro-nutrients can all be found there.
Ironite should be used only if you have a real iron deficiency, as the amount of iron in the mix is about 100 times what we have in the Weekly Feed. And boron is close to 10 times more than we recommend.
It also contains LARGE amounts of calcium and sulfur, and because of the sulfur should only be used if your pH is high, or it will make acid soil worse.
The zinc is about 1/4th, the molybdenum is about 1/100th
There is almost NO N or K, and NO P.
I don't know who uses it, or what it's recommended for, but it should NOT be in the vegetable garden, in my opinion.
