Tamara, I've tried several varieties of "canning" tomatoes and I find for consistent production the best is Roma. They are very meaty and will produce a thick sauce. I am in the deep south but we have grown them in the fall in pots and move them to the unheated greenhouse once the cold starts. They handle the cooler weather of Fall pretty well.
