Vegetables Gardening - Growing Organic Vegetables

Howdy,
 
My name is Mark, my family and I have recently moved here to N. Utah. I have been unemployed since the middle of February. My wife is not unemployed so right now I do most of the meal planning and cooking.
This is the first time I have ever lived in a house with a basement, so I plan to do lots of canning and bulk purchases and whatever else I can do to ease the strain of food needs on our budget. I have a small out door garden and a small container garden - in process.
We have 3 dogs, a 13 year old daughter living at home, a son in the Army and a son in the Air Force, and I am retired Army.
 
I may just lurk here a while - really just looking to see what I can learn.
