Fwd: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Control of Virus on Squash Plants - by PathaJ

True, there are a lot of diseases and pests that can invade your garden.
Not all of them will invade yours, believe me.
You can hand pick the snails and slugs. Just go out around 10 PM and have
a field day. Then you won't need snail bait.

Wrapping individual plants in bird netting would be difficult. Why not
try some wire hoops and nylon craft netting or row cover (it comes in summer
and winter weight) and I defy the birds to get under it and you will be
able to cover many plants at one time instead of just one.

There are many organic things you can do for insects. Just washing plants
down with a stiff stream of water will get rid of aphids, after you have
gotten rid of your ants. They go hand in hand. How about insecticidal
soap? Works good and is quite benign.

Spending plenty of time in your garden and keeping bad leaves cut off of
your plants will help keep diseases away.

Weeds are hosts to many diseases. Keep them out of your garden. Once you
get a handle on some of these things, it will not be overwhelming.

Your garden will provide you with great food, lots of Vitamin D from the
sunshine while working in it, peace and contentment by just being there.

Finally, the taste of your home grown veggies is worth all of the
aggravation that you have been through.

Think of the miracle that happens when you put a tiny seed into your
garden and it emerges and grows and provides you with wonderful tasting food.
Life is good.
