[MittleiderMethodGardening] Avocado trees
Hi All! Just hoping there are some of you out there who are growing some
of those cold hardy avocados in zones similar to mine, and can share
your experiences. We live in California, and the lows can dip into the
20's in the winter, with a record lows back 30-50 years ago of 16
degrees. Winters are wet (up to 40 in. of rain/year, and summers are dry
and warm (mostly 80's and 90's with occasional 100+ weather, but never
for very long... we always have fog that comes in from the coast every
2-3 weeks to cool things off some.
Do any of you live in a similar climate, and had success with avocados?
If so, please email back with the type of avocado trees you have,
how they have fared,
amount and quality of the fruit,
and if possible, where you purchased them.
I know about the place (Devine) in Texas, but I called the grower, and
he only sells local.. no shipping.
Thanks so much for your help!
