Jim, I have to say that I have used CS on plants on and off for years
and the plants love it. For one reason, you can't put it in the septic
when you have excess because it will kill all the bacteria there and
ruin the septic tank for a week or so.

I created my own CS generator years ago and I make it by the gallon, not
the glass full. I use 120 volt AC house power and I can process one
steam distilled gallon in about 30 to 45 minutes. The batches are
consistent too!
