[MittleiderMethodGardening] Response to Questions about Jacob R. Mittleider's Death

Jacob R. Mittleider was born April 23, 1918 and died May 20, 2006.

From the time he was 3 years old Jacob suffered from migraine headaches, and over the years he learned to control them by taking medications, including very large doses of aspirin and Excedrin every day.

In the last years of his life he reduced the dosages of aspirin (from 20+ per day down to about 8 per day) and eliminated other things, and seemed to manage alright, so in April, 2006 he decided to eliminate the aspirin altogether. He did so "cold turkey", and very shortly thereafter his blood clotted and he suffered a stroke.

He was in and out of the hospital several times over the next month or so, and had at least one more stroke.

He remained awake and lucid throughout his last days, and in response to questions he indicated he was not suffering any pain.

His dear wife Mildred (born 11/23/20) followed him on April 18, 2009.

They left an enduring legacy of love and service to mankind, and the Mittleider Method of vegetable gardening is highly regarded and practiced successfully in feeding millions of families throughout the world.
