[MittleiderMethodGardening] Summer Squassh?

It looks like a butternut squash, it will turn a golden tan color (Try slicing and frying it in a little butter &/or olive oil - see if it TASTES like a cucumber - JK)

Subject: [MittleiderMethodGardening] New to gardening

Good Morning all,
As I've stated before I am so new to this that it's not funny. I planted some cukes, squash and zucchini right outside our front door. The squash was supposed to be the summer squash. I have no idea what is growing on this vine... This morning I decided to cut one of them. Well it taste like a cucummber and it even has the texture of a cuke, smells a little sweet and has the seeds of a squash. But even I know that this is not a summer squash. Please see the photo on file under "what is this?" Can some one tell me what I'm supposed to do with it.

Thanks,
Carolyn in NC
