[MittleiderMethodGardening] Mittleider Micro-Nutrient Mix Compared to Other Commercial Micro Mix
Group:
A Group member sent me details about another Micro-Nutrient Mix that's being sold in Florida, and asked me to analyze it, and compare it with the Mittleider Micro-Nutrient Mix.
The other mix is being sold in Ocala, Florida, and it's being touted as just what's needed for garden plants. Following is a comparison of ingredients by %:
Nutrient Other Micro-Mix Mittleider Micro-Mix
Magnesium 8.5% -
Sulfur 8.0% -
Chloride 1.0% -
Zinc 1.00% 10.77%
Manganese 2.50% 6.43%
Boron .025 4.68%
Iron 4.00% 2.94%
Copper .25% 1.47%
Molybdenum .002 .73%
The other micro-mix wastes 2/3 of the entire mix on 3 ingredients that should not even be there. Magnesium and sulfur are NOT micro-nutrients, but are SECONDARY nutrients. And sulfur is included as a part of many other fertilizer compounds and so is only rarely needed by itself. We add 4# of magnesium sulfate to 10 ounces of Micro-Mix, which is MUCH more than they have. And Chloride is also included in other compounds and does not need to be in the Micro-Mix.
Of the 6 micro-nutrients that DO belong, the Mittleider Micro-Mix has MUCH more than the other mix. And specific instructions as to mixing the Micro's with N, P, K and Magnesium assure you that the final Mittleider Magic Weekly Feed mix contains the nutrients your plants need, in the amounts they need.
