[MittleiderMethodGardening] Organic or Mineral Feeding of Plants

Here's another important truth to remember regarding organics and minerals.

Plants require 16 nutrients - 3 they get from the air including carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen, from which they create Carb-O-Hydrates - Ta-Da!

The other 13 nutrients plants get from the soil, and they must be water-soluble minerals, so that the roots can take them up.

Plants convert the 16 nutrients into organic compounds which are then eaten by animals to sustain THEIR lives.

When organic materials are returned to the soil, they must be digested by soil microbes and revert BACK to water-soluble MINERALS again before the next generation of plants can use them.

This is the reason organic enthusiasts make a big thing about "feed the soil, so it can feed the plants", which they interpret means to put organic materials into the soil, so that the soil organisms can eat it and turn it back into water-soluble minerals.

But what they miss is that you can save a great deal of time, expense, weed seeds, bugs, and diseases, as well as the uncertainty of not knowing WHAT nutrition your plants are actually getting, by "feeding" the soil the natural water-soluble minerals DIRECTLY, balanced in just the right proportions the plants need.

And this is a critical element in making Dr. Mittleider's system of growing so very effective in ANY soil and in ANY climate.  It's faster, much more efficient, less costly, you KNOW exactly what your plants are receiving, you have no danger of infection from diseases, and your yields are through the roof more than when using organic materials.

Get me started and it's hard to shut me off!  I guess that's what 42 years' association with this method will do to a person, for which I'm grateful
