[MittleiderMethodGardening] 4' wide beds
Hello! I will be using my pre-existing 4' raised beds this year. I know MM uses 18", but this is what I have and do not want to disassemble etc. Question: does anyone else have 4' wide beds and if so what are your row spacings etc? 18" on both sides with 12" of wasted space down the center? Thanks for any help. If it's in the book, what's the page number?
There are thousands of Mittleider gardeners using 4'-wide containers we call Grow-Boxes. The Gardening Course book does not say a lot about them, but you treat them like 2 18" beds, except that you plant in the outside 12", leaving almost 2' as a center "aisle", for the plants to spread out and receive all the air and light they need.
The Mittleider Gardening Course book has a couple of good illustrations at the back of the book which show how a 4' box is built.
Best of success,
Jim Kennard
