[MittleiderMethodGardening] need planning help, please!

hello all, we have a plot of land approximately 18' X 40' that we would like to fill with raised beds.

the 18' width runs north to south, the 40' length runs west to east.

from the west edge to the east edge of the 40' length there is about a 2' drop.

we had initially wanted to run our beds from west to east, but with that much of a drop in the level, our beds would have to be 2' higher on the east end than on the west end.  does that make sense?

so...should we run long beds from west to east and just raise them as we go to keep them level?  or should we run shorter beds from north to south?

we were lucky, recently, to acquire a copy of "grow-box gardens" by Dr. Mittleider.  it has wonderful drawings and explanations of how to build and use grow boxes.  but we can't figure out how to lay out the beds!

thank you, in advance, for your help!

Lanni:

Run your beds the short direction, so that you can have level beds.  You will be MUCH happier with the results.
