[MittleiderMethodGardening] Preplant mix in alkaline soil - with response from Jim Kennard
I'm trying to learn this method and have a question about using lime in alkaline soil. We average about 30" rain per year. Do I use the agricultural lime or gypsum? Won't the lime raise the alkalinity?
Thanks,
Pat

During 40 years growing all around the world Dr. Mittleider determined that when annual rainfall was below 20" soil pH was high and gypsum needed to be used to prevent it being higher. Above 20" of rainfall, in his experience and mine have always signaled pH of below 7, which suggests the use of lime.
