In years past, I've had the big gas Troy tiller and the little gas
Mantis.
They are excellent tillers however I always struggled to get them
started.

I know trusted folks who love their matiis.
I used to get free rides by starting owners' motorcycles, ALL brands.
I have NO problem starting my Troy 6.5. You have to choke it a bit -
open the throttle a bit - not much - and remember your success pattern.

1 initial full choke pull might be required, before going to a typical
3/4 of full choke for the 2nd pull. You'll need to open the choke to 1/2
open & 3/4 open withing a few seconds. Revs will go up so now
adjust that until you are ready to work. I allow 20-30 seconds of
warm up, for oil to circulate.
