I've noticed blueberry roots are shallow and spread wide, so make the planting hole wider. I've mixed in peat moss, along with an organic fertilizer for acid-loving plants. And pine needles make an excellent mulch.
Some blueberry varieties require a lower pH than others. It can't hurt to check. Many varieties are tolerant of higher pH.
I've also found that some blueberry varieties take several years before they give you a good crop, so be patient.
