By the sound of the extreme extent of mosquitos being attracted to you , I would suggest that you make several of these and put them in portions of your area that are further away from where you need to be when checking for the slugs....
 
I sent the mosquito remedy in another post, but forgot to include the info about putting the traps further away from you..........I am hoping they will like the carbon dioxide in the bottles more than you, and because they are attracted to your exhaled breath, maybe a few layers of cloth over your mouth would decrease the amount of carbon dioxide floating around you......like inhale through your nose which is sticking out then exhale through your mouth which is covered.... I don't really know if that would help but anything to decrease their attraction to your carbon dioxide, and providing an alternative attractant to them....  if it were me I would wind a few winter scarves around my face, over my mouth in addition to a few layers of cloth or maybe even paper toweling, or whatever....and of course, I wouldn't put it on until you are actually going out the door as you don't want a lot of time for any exhaled carbon dioxide to gather up in your facial
covering...
