[MittleiderMethodGardening] Re:Watering System - Number of Holes in a 10'-long Pipe
Happily announcing we got our first section of "test" pvc pipe set over the weekend. Wow, I am impressed with how well it worked!!! I guess I should have trusted it would work as well as described for my situation, but we wanted to get a section for a bed completed and tested before drilling ALL THE REMAINDER OF THE HOLES!!! It's going to be so worth it. It was a work of art watering all my little beet plants!
As for drilling, we made a jig from a block of wood that just sets over the section of pipe as suggested. It has an opening for marking a line. Then next to that we have three tiny holes pre-drilled to fit the 57/58 drill bit....center then 30 (or was it 45 degrees) off from the center line on each side. As I hold the block every 4 inches, my husband drills the 3 holes through the drill guides. It seems to prevent bending of the super small drill bit using the pre-drill block as a drill guide. This works well instead of just marking the three holes but does progress a lot faster if you have an extra set of hands.
