Hi Dianne,
Last year I grew radicchio in zone 5, the red/pink variety, I don't remember the name, but it was beautiful;however, it was just extremely bitter....and I picked it before it bolted too. I don't want to give up on it yet and I'm going to give it another try this spring. Perhaps a shade cloth might help extend the season for it.
