[MittleiderMethodGardening] another fertilizer question :)
Jim,
I listened to your radio show last Friday on fertilizers vs. compost, etc. I follow your logic completely. However, I was wondering what your opinion is on all the press about heavy metals being in commercial fertilizers. There are many articles out there that can scare anyone half to death. Here is an example:

Anyway, I am sure you are not new to this and have an appropriate answer.
Thanks,

Tiffanie & Group:
The article you refer to makes it sound as if all the commercial fertilizers are coming from steel mills, etc., etc. when I believe a very small percentage of them are from these sources.
I am all for removing heavy metals and any bad material from our fertilizers. That's one of many reasons I prefer to avoid manure and compost, both of which are highly suspect in this regard.
I recommend you all make your voices heard and communicate with fertilizer manufacturers. Get educated as to where the materials in the fertilizers you buy came from, how they were processed, and whether or not there are any heavy metals in them.
I am comfortable that the materials I purchase to make the Micro-Nutrients come from the most reputable companies, and believe they will stand any scrutiny.
