[Organic_Gardening] Re: Looking for some "serious" compost tumbler operators
After 30 days total, with the last week or so showing no significant heat-generating, I shoveled the left side of my tumbler into the right side and started a whole new batch of compost in the left side. Boy oh boy is that 30 day old compost wet and heavy! The new batch is 1/3 Starbucks UCG and 2/3 cross-cut shredded newspapers and cardboard. I'll be careful to not add nearly as much water as I did on the first batch.
I'll continue my daily temperature measurements. It should be interesting to have data on 2 batches, 30 days apart, but subjected to the same ambient temperatures.
I plan to turn the tumbler some, and to use my drill and auger, probably once a week, since that mixes it up and fluffs it up so well.
