[Organic_Gardening] Re: Looking for some "serious" compost tumbler operators
My fluffed up compost settled almost immediately My latest thinking is that as the shredded leaves in my tumbler have shrunk down to about half their original volume, the water in my tumbler has stayed about the same total amount, doubling the moisture content. Thus reducing the air circulation within the tumbler and also the water conducting any heat generated by the bacteria quickly to the tumbler exterior and then to the surrounding air, slowing the composting process and dropping the core temperature dramatically this winter.
I'm wondering how to remove the excess moisture without adding anything like shredded newspaper - which would logically start my 14 day composting clock back at zero.
