[Organic_Gardening] Re: Looking for some "serious" compost tumbler operators
On the 18th day, the temperatures in both sides plunged! I guess I ran out of nitrogen.
Where I was sticking in the thermocouple temperature probe in both sides of the tumbler, it was easy. Elsewhere, it was very tough to push it in. I used an electric drill and a bulb-planting augur to really mix up both sides. That mixed and fluffed up the shredded leaves nearly to the original volume. I guess the shredded leaves matted up some, so cranking the tumbler did mixing only around the perimeter. Guess I'll need to do this extra mixing step, perhaps weekly.
Any serious hot-compost tumbler operators with similar plunging temperatures and leaf matting experience and solutions to share?
