Anna/ Martina......the leaf structure is wrong for the black Walnut I have one in my front yard. But it does resemble the Elm and it also resembles the Sycamore. So I suggest you plant it and when it it sprouts you can tell us (In a couple of Years) ;)

Subject: [Organic_Gardening] Chestnut?

I found this tree growing out by a creek. Can anyone identify this tree and
fruit/nut? My best guess is some type of chestnut. If it is indeed a
chestnut, what variety and is it edible? All the photos of chestnuts I see
are very spiky and hairy, but this one is rather smooth and very hard. The
tree is located in West Georgia. Thanks.
