[MittleiderMethodGardening] damp weekly feed

I stored my weeekly feed mix in a 5 gal plastic bucket; closed the lid; and when I opened it today to do my weekly feed, it was damp. It's been very humid here, but I assumed (wrongly, apparently) that it would stay dry in the bucket (which is stored in our garage (no air conditioning). Is this a problem or is it okay? If not okay, suggestions on how to a)dry it out & b)how to store it from here on out would be welcomed. Thanks.

fiddlewoman1 & Group:

The damp (and sometimes sticky) Weekly Feed mix is still totally usable.

The Epsom Salts often used in making the Weekly Feed has 7 parts water for each one part magnesium.

To solve the wetness that often results just add 1# of Perlite to each 60# batch of WF. The perlite will absorb the water.

Or you can find another form of magnesium that doesn't have all the water in it, such as magnesium oxide or magnesium sucrate. Both are MUCH higher in magnesium than epsom salts, but neither is available in the big box stores, etc. Try a farm supply store. And be prepared to purchase 50# bags.
