Re: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Greenhouse Benefits
Yes in upstate NY between Rochester N syracuse use hoops to ward off too much rain, hail, snow, sun...use insect netting under the plastic in spring summer then when roll back plastic the insect netting still aboard....we make our own from these hoop benders...the best....in several sizes....our group members buy a different size each and then borrow from each other...

Subject: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Greenhouse Benefits
I'm very new to gardening and am wondering about what benefits there may be in having a greenhouse (Central Ohio) during the summer months. I pretty much understand how they are used to extend the seasons in the early spring and late fall but are they helpful in the hot summer for anything?
I would think that portable hoop houses would be great for protecting against excessive sun and even hail storms. I've seen short ones that should be portable enough to grab when storms are coming and set them up in a hurry.
Does anyone have any experience with these?
BTW, I'm intrigued with the Mittleider Method but I'm still in the learning stage. My wife does most of the gardening so I'm more of a back seat driver. As I feel more comfortable and have more time I hope to become more involved.
Thanks everyone!
Scott
